In a media landscape often defined by headlines, Adai Lamar has spent more than two decades defining what it truly means to be heard.
A respected voice in radio, Adai is heard Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM on 102.3 KJLH as the local voice of The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Her career has a dynamic broadcasting range—from leading her own morning radio show, ADAI and the Home Team, as the first African American woman to helm a morning drive show on the West Coast, a groundbreaking achievement. While cruising in morning drive, Adai also produced & hosted, Radio Free Talk, a two-hour Saturday morning show that became a space for open dialogue and community connection. Adai continues to serve as a trusted on-air presence during morning drive while also anchoring a weekly one-hour community-feature at 9:00 AM on Thursdays.
Known for her authentic self, compassion, and unwavering commitment to people, she has become a trusted presence whose influence extends far beyond the airwaves.
A two-time Gracies Award winner, Adai’s work reflects excellence in broadcasting, alongside numerous awards and acknowledgments recognizing her dedicated service to women, children, and underserved communities. She is a strong advocate for women’s health and wellness and plays a pivotal role in the annual KJLH Women’s Health Expo, where she leads a two-hour live broadcast each year—helping to inform, empower, and connect countless women to critical health resources.
As a business owner, Adai’s company, A Day of Service, is a community-centered initiative that serves as both an outreach platform and an umbrella for her nonprofit, Angels Unawares, inspired by the biblical charge from Hebrews 13:2: “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” This guiding principle is more than scripture—it is the blueprint for her life’s work. Through this initiative, Adai has provided support to youth, seniors, individuals experiencing homelessness, and families in transition—offering not only essential resources, but dignity, hope, and human connection.
Her impact is deeply personal. From organizing days of service to hands-on efforts supporting the unhoused and underserved, Adai is known not just as a voice for the people—but as one of them. She listens to understand the needs and takes action.
Adai is also a devoted and loving caregiver to her mother, Jessie—whom she describes as her heart. Better understanding the challenges and sacrifices of caregivers, Adai created TLC Lounges for caregivers and those who support caregivers. A space of grace to relax and connect with others.
Whether in the studio or in the community, Adai Lamar embodies a rare blend of professionalism and humanity. She is a broadcaster, a businesswoman, a servant—and above all, a woman of faith whose work continues to transform lives.
Adai is greatly thankful for the blessings of her 102.3 KJLH family & Mr. Stevie Wonder whom she considers an extension of her own. KJLH is her home and she remains grateful for the opportunity to serve within such a legacy of purpose and service.
